STREET OUTREACH
FOR YOUTH
Project Lighthouse

7.6% of all youth report having been homeless
for at least one night in the past 12 months.

The intent of this program is to provide educational, informational, and prevention support for runaway, homeless, street youth in order to reduce the daily risks for these youth and to convince and assist as many as possible to utilize the available community services to leave the street for a more productive, safe life. 120+ homeless youth per year access this facility. 200 local youth participate in runaway prevention programs.

THIS PROGRAM CAN OFFER
Travel Kit: Backpack with toiletries, watch, disposable camera, journal, pen, phone card, or other necessities
Wallet Assembly: ID card (recognized by local law enforcement), program literature, and local service agency information
Trav’ler’s Passports: containing ‘trav’ler’s creed, 800 help-line numbers, family info, personal info, names/addresses of allies
Personal Services: Showers, clothing, food, laundry facilities, contact with family, and referrals to local service agencies
Strategic Planning: Case management, shelter services, travel home arrangements
Personal ID: Help in obtaining copies of Social Security card, birth certificates, temporary food stamp, and driver training
